History of the School

Montfort Academy is a Catholic English Medium School, established in 2009, and later affiliated to the Mizoram Board of School Education. The school is administered by the Society of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, a Congregation founded in France in 1705 by St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, a great missionary.

The foundation for the new school building of Montfort Academy was laid on 29 April 2008 in the presence of Rev. Bro. Rene Delorme, Superior General. This milestone marked the beginning of the institution’s physical growth. The completed building was formally inaugurated on 19 April 2019, with Mr. Lalruatkima, Minister of State for the Rural Development Department and the Information & Public Relations Department, serving as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was further honoured by the presence of Most Rev. Stephen Rotluanga, Bishop of Aizawl, and Bro. M. K. Devassy, Provincial Superior, as Guests of Honour.

The school currently caters to students from LKG to Class X. The first batch of Class X students appeared for the Mizoram Board Examination in 2021. Since then, Montfort Academy has consistently maintained 100% pass results in the Board Examinations, up to the year 2025, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development.
